The girls’ project initiative was started in June 2019.

About the Program and the activities: This is a development program for school aged girls and female youth of Janta Mazdoor Colony, a slum cluster. Girls/Female Youth of the area are in the process of developing a girls’ empowerment project. A micro-planning team consisting of girls from the area has been formed for the purpose. Training in micro-planning has been imparted to the micro-planning team members. Focus group discussions have been held regarding young women issues and proposals for addressing these issues. A field survey has been conducted in one sample block in order to understand the issues of school aged girls and female youth of Janta Mazdoor Colony. The task of developing a girls’ empowerment project has been assigned to Ms. Farheen Anwar, who is also a micro-planning team member. She is pursuing her Master’s in Education from Azim Premji University. She is working on this task as an intern of Aspire India Foundation. The draft of the project developed by her has been submit tedto AIF.
Future Plans: After the girls’ empowerment project has been developed, it will be shared in the community through meetings with a view to building awareness regarding girls’ empowerment issues and seeking community support and involvement in project implementation
